Find every Uber receipt in your Gmail

Every Uber ride and Uber Eats order emailed you a receipt. Years of them are sitting in your inbox right now — here's how to surface them all, and how to get them out in bulk.

The search operators

Paste these into Gmail's search bar:

  • from:uber.com — everything Uber ever sent you, receipts and promos alike.
  • from:uber.com subject:(receipt OR trip) — narrows it to ride receipts.
  • from:uber.com subject:order — Uber Eats order receipts.
  • Add a date range to any of them, e.g. from:uber.com after:2024/01/01 before:2025/01/01.

Watch out for "updated receipt" emails — Uber sends a corrected copy when a tip or adjustment lands after the trip, so some rides appear twice.

Getting them out in bulk

Gmail has no "download all results" button, but Google Takeout does the same job:

  1. Go to takeout.google.com and deselect everything except Mail.
  2. Choose "All Mail data included" and limit it to a label if you've labeled your Uber mail — otherwise export All Mail.
  3. Google emails you an archive containing an .mbox file — one file holding all the messages.

Turning receipts into numbers

Once you can see the receipts, the next question is what they add up to. FareFare answers that: connect Gmail read-only and it finds the receipts itself (promo emails are ignored, duplicate "updated receipt" copies removed), or drop in the Takeout .mbox and it parses the whole archive. Everything runs in your browser — your email never touches a server — and out comes your spending by week, month, and year, plus every trip in one table.

Stop searching. Start adding it up.

FareFare finds your Uber receipts and turns them into totals — parsed in your browser, never uploaded.
